Scientific Department- Section A: Educational Innovation and Inclusive Education

Section A: Educational Innovation and Inclusive Education is responsible for every issue regarding educational innovation, inclusive education and particularly issues of special education, minority, intercultural, expatriate and youth custody education as well as differentiated teaching.

According to articles 53 and 61, law 4547/2018, the acts and research of the section more specifically involve:

a. teaching methodologies and pedagogical approaches relevant to their subject matter
b. the study of various kinds of tools and materials of pedagogic and teaching methodologies, including printed and digital teaching material
c. the elaboration and the constant enhancement and optimal application of pedagogy and teaching methodology to all types of schools and institutions
d. the documentation and application of appropriate pedagogical and teaching methods for the implementation of curricula and innovations beyond the typical operation of the school and the curriculum
e. documenting and implementing appropriate pedagogical practices for school administration, democracy and the enjoyment of rights and gender equality
f. providing pedagogical and didactic support on relevant scientific subjects for school units of all types.
g. the integration of pedagogical and teaching principles which remove barriers and support progress for all pupils
h. supporting new educational structures as regards the pedagogical and didactic mentoring in issues that relate to their scientific subjects.

In addition to the above, section A investigates and identifies overlaps in research or experimental activities between units and different parties concerning pedagogical and teaching methodologies, and advises or suggests ways to avoid these overlaps as well as to optimize the use of resources within its scope.

Section A studies systematically issues related to:

i. School Life, delivering advisory opinions on, or recommending ways, to improve it
ii. Student dropout and early school leaving, advising or proposing ways to face these phenomena
iii. Special Education and training along with the educational needs of specific groups of students. Section A delivers advisory opinions or recommends ways to address the educational needs of these students.

Finally, Section A drafts an annual report in cooperation with the coordinators of the competent units.
